Social Performance Indicators
The Social Performance indicators were developed by the Social Performance Task Force over the course of four years. The established criteria for the indicators are that they have to be:
- 1. Relevant - the indicators selected had to be meaningful to microfinance specifically.
2. Easy for an MFI to collect data on.
3. Easy for MIX or another third party to verify.
4. Information that the MFI is willing to be publicized on MIX Market or other sites.
Given the above criteria, the priority of the Task Force in selecting the first group of indicators was that it should be a limited number so as to minimize the burden on MFIs. This group of indicators, called Part I, focuses on processes and tend to be easy for an MFI to answer, with simple yes/no responses, and easy for MIX to verify.
The indicators in Part II are included because the Task Force participants agreed that these questions are very important and relevant to social performance in microfinance, but also can be more difficult for an MFI to report positively on and for MIX to verify. The full report, including an introduction and glossary, is available for download at the bottom of this page.
