The MIX Microfinance Taxonomy 1.0 (PUBLIC WORKING DRAFT, 2009-06-19)

On 19 June 2009, the Microfinance Information Exchange (“MIX”) published the public working draft of the MIX Microfinance Taxonomy 1.0 (“MIX PWD”). The MIX PWD extends the IFRS 2009 XBRL taxonomy in support of microfinance institutions. The MIX PWD:

Follows IFRS, which is the most common basis for local accounting standards in which microfinance institutions operate in their home countries.
Provides an extensible XBRL taxonomy in service of an open-reporting framework of microfinance activities.
Sufficiently general to allow for extension, but also sufficiently complete to make extensions unnecessary or minute in many cases.
