Microfinance Market Report for Latin America and the Caribbean 2010
The Microfinance Information Exchange (MIX) released its annual report Microfinance Market Report for Latin America and the Caribbean 2010. The report is a comprehensive analysis on the state of the microfinance industry in the Latin America and Caribbean region, one of the most mature and competitive markets in the microfinance industry.
The reports indicates that microfinance institutions (MFIs) showed signs of recovery in 2009 growing 24% in loan portfolio (superior to 13.6% in 2008) cumulating USD 19,552 millions. However, the results were different reviewing the performance by sub region, particularly in Central America where local events conjugated reducing the credit offer and market results.
In addition, a first approach to the cross-indebtedness problem exploring data from Ecuadorian MFIs can be found on the report, and first ever a complete analysis about social performance results in the region.
