Saving Through the Mobile Phone

In the past few years there have been attempts to mobilize savings via branchless banking models in general and the mobile phone in particular. There is a recognition that savings, probably more than any other financial service, requires proximity and immediacy for the customer. There is also the recognition that savings could radically improve livelihoods.
