In this first annual report on the topic, Microfinance Information eXchange, Inc. (MIX) and the Microfinance Council of the Philippines, Inc. (MCPI) join efforts to benchmark Philippine microfinance institutions’ performance.

The Philippines Benchmarking Report 2004 brings together data on financial performance and outreach measures for 25 leading Philippine MFIs and compares these with results for 68 microfinance providers throughout Asia. The report also compares the performance of Philippine MFIs with that of their local and regional peers in areas ranging from outreach and sustainability, to access to external finance and operational efficiency. In a rapidly evolving sector, this report sets out the diversity within Philippine microfinance, highlighting the strengths of leading institutions, as well as the challenges facing the sector.
