2004 Azerbaijan Microfinance Analysis and Benchmarking Report- Russian
The Microfinance Information Exchange, Inc. (MIX) and the Azerbaijan Microfinance Association (AMFA) discuss the microfinance sector in Azerbaijan in Azerbaijan Benchmarking Report 2004.
Azerbaijan Benchmarking Report 2004 is the first report in the industry literature on microfinance in Azerbaijan and is targeted at financial institutions, donor agencies and investors as well as government agencies and other interested parties. The analysis dissects and compares Azerbaijan microfinance performance measures and their drivers in a global and regional context.
The results of the analysis point towards positive developments within the sector. Although the surveyed institutions remain primarily equity-funded, microfinance institutions in Azerbaijan are increasingly accessing commercial funding. Outreach by microfinance institutions into rural areas of the country has been especially strong. Two broad classes of institutions target distinct groups of borrower, with some institutions concentrating on the SME market, while others focus on low-income populations, using of group-lending methodology and increased outreach to women.
