More than 20 microfinance institutions have provided reports on the new social performance indicators, developed by the Social Performance Task Force, a working group of microfinance leaders including practitioners, networks and donor organizations, MIX announced today.
The social performance report is the first of its kind for the microfinance industry. While microfinance institutions (MFIs) have for many years aimed to improve the lives and social condition of their clients, monitoring the social impact of MFIs has not been done in any consensual, standardized manner.
The Microfinance Information Exchange, Inc. (MIX) in partnership with CGAP released the 2008 Eastern Europe and Central Asia Microfinance Analysis and Benchmarking Report.
The report is based on the performance of microfinance institutions (MFIs) in the Eastern Europe and Central Asia region for fiscal year 2007 and includes a review of the legal and regulatory environment. The report is available in English and Russian
Report shows strong growth in Asia microfinance sector

MIX released the newest report on the microfinance sector, Asia Microfinance Analysis and Benchmarking Report, 2008. The report shows that loan portfolios in this diverse region grew faster than at the global rate, with both Cambodia and India topping 90 percent growth. The report draws on fiscal year 2007 data of 244 MFIs submitted for benchmarking analysis, and data from an additional 313 MFIs with published profiles on MIX Market.
MIX announced the launch of their new publications and corporate website: www.themix.org. The new site is a redesign and re-architecture of content that previously resided on two websites: www.themix.org and www.mixmbb.org. The redesigned site is MIX’s publication site and corporate information site, cover details about the organization as well as our entire library, including the MicroBanking Bulletin (MBB).
The launch is the first step in the redesign of MIX’s MFI data site, MIX Market (www.mixmarket.org).

The Microfinance Information Exchange, Inc. (MIX) launched the first set of social performance indicators for microfinance institutions (MFIs) to begin reporting on the social impact of their work. The English version of the report, with 22 indicators for reporting, was sent to MFIs throughout Asia, Eastern Europe and sub-Saharan Africa.

The report is based on the performance of microfinance institutions (MFIs) in sub-Saharan Africa for fiscal year 2007 and includes a review of the legal and regulatory environment in the region and funding flows for African MFIs.
The Microfinance Information Exchange, Inc. (MIX) in partnership with the Association of Microfinance Institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina (AMFI) announced the release of the 2008 Bosnia and Herzegovina Microfinance Analysis and Benchmarking Report.

The report is based on the performance of microfinance institutions (MFIs) in the country for fiscal year 2007 and covers the macroeconomic environment, legislative environment and funding activities as well as details on MFI performance and outreach.
MIX released the 2008 MIX Global 100 Composite, its annual report ranking the top 100 MFIs throughout the developing world. Indonesia’s MBK Ventura acheived the number one spot for the first year.
MIX uses a metholodology based on profitability, outreach, efficiency and transparency to present a picture of well rounded MFI performance. However, as Blaine Stephens, MIXCOO notes, “For an MFI to improve aspects of performance, priorities have to be set and as a result, often times trade-offs are made.
